Temperatures in the
90's and sauna-like humidity didn't stop over 45 racers from doing
battle on the dragway Sunday. Chad
Brintnell
of
McBain
was the day's winner in the Pro division with his Ford Mustang. He
defeated Gaylord's Andy
Wingo,
driving his Pontiac Lemans, in the final round. Phil Anderson of
Maple City was the lone semi-finalist.
With their superb performances, both final round drivers moved into
the top three in the 2005 points standings. Randy
Budde
of
Walkerville
maintains the lead, with
Wingo in second and
Brintnell
tied for third with Corey
Mikus of
Kaleva.
Klint
Bailey of Lake, with his quarter-final round finish, is now tied with
James Coe of Cadillac and Mark Hancock of Boyne City for fifth place in
points.
In Sportsman,
Jackie Budde
picked up her second final round win of the season, as she defeated
Pauline Schwedt of Cheboygan.
Schwedt
maintains her lead in the Sportsman points with her third runner-up
finish of the season.
Bret Martin of
Interlochen defeated
Kathie Huntley of Beulah for the Trophy division win.
Gary Pike of Mt. Morris held off Beulah's Phil Gunther for the
Gamblers win.
